Bachelor of Education
Bachelor of Education (BEd)
The Bachelor of Education (BEd) or Bachelor of Science in Education (BSc) prepares students with the content knowledge to teach. The Department of Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education offers teacher education courses, clinical experiences, and student teaching. The completion of a licensure program, in addition to the completion of a bachelor in an approved major, prepares students to apply for teacher licensure at designated grade levels.
The particular sequence of education courses to be taken is determined by the level at which a student wishes to teach. The education courses may be taken along with the bachelor's program. Students receive endorsements in the level and/or subject area in which they are qualified to teach.
Please consult with one of our faculty advisor for guidance in the appropriate selection of major and general studies courses.

Capstone Project
In addition to the course requirements detailed, students are required to complete a written capstone research project and associated oral presentation in order to graduate. The capstone project is a culminating experience to the program beyond the required course work; it represents your ability to formulate a project and implement it from start to finish using a combination of your conceptual, technical and applied knowledge.
What is a Capstone Project?
The student presents the capstone project at the university campus. A week of residence is mandatory at the end of the program. During that week, the defense and the graduation exercise take place.
Transfer Credits
The student may transfer all previously earned applicable credits from accredited universities into the program. These courses must not have been used to complete another degree and have a passing grade. All transferred hours must be from an accredited institution/school and be documented by an official sealed transcript. There is no limit to the number of transfer credits allowed, but under no circumstances may the capstone project credits be waived.
