Master of Business Administration

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Master in Business Administration (MBA) develops students for the role managers play in defining business problems, assessing information, considering alternatives, and choosing the best solution. Imagine the manager as the hub of a wheel. From the hub radiate spokes, each representing a specific discipline, such as finance, law, marketing, operations, information systems, etc. Each of these "spokes" generates inputs for the manager to assess and incorporate into the decision-making process. The manager is a critical user of these inputs in making the decision. Although generally not the original producer of the information, the manager must be able to assess the validity and reliability of the information in building a business case for the decision. Please read international accreditation and recognition of MBA Program.

To prepare students for this decision-making role, the MBA has been designed to introduce the theory or principles that frame a wide range of problems or issues in each of the courses. The most current techniques or tools are applied to these theories to allow students to practice making decisions to solve a wide range of problems.

Capstone Project

In addition to the course requirements detailed, students are required to complete a written capstone research project and associated oral presentation in order to graduate. The capstone project is a culminating experience to the program beyond the required course work; it represents your ability to formulate a project and implement it from start to finish using a combination of your conceptual, technical and applied knowledge. What is a Capstone Project?

The student presents the capstone project at the university campus. A week of residence is mandatory at the end of the program. During that week, the defense and the graduation exercise take place.

Transfer Credits

The student may transfer all previously earned applicable credits from accredited universities into the program. These courses must not have been used to complete another degree and have a passing grade. All transferred hours must be from an accredited institution/school and be documented by an official sealed transcript. There is no limit to the number of transfer credits allowed, but under no circumstances may the capstone project credits be waived.
